Musical Theatre: Capitol Theatre presents "Come From Away" beginning at 2:00 pm at Capitol Theatre Arts Centre (20 Queen St., Port Hope, L1A 2Y7). This global musical theatre sensation takes you into the centre of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town of Gander, Newfoundland that welcomed them during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. At first, cultures clash and nerves run high, but tension turns into trust, gratitude, and ultimately friendship. Nominated for seven Tony Awards and winner of five Outer Critics Circle Awards, three Drama Desk Awards, and four Olivier Awards. Book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Directed by Rob Kempson with music direction by Jeff Newberry and choreography by Genny Sermonia. Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. on July 10 and 11, 16 to 18, 23 to 25, and July 30 to August 1, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on July 12, 14 to 16, 18 and 19, 21 to 23, 25 and 26, 28 to 30, and August 1 and 2. Pay-what-you-can preview on July 10, Indigenous community night on July 17, relaxed performance on July 19, and talkback after every Thursday performance.
