On Wednesday, July 15th, Steve Hancock of St. Veronus Cafe and Tap Room will be the guest chef at the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market.

Hancock, who was the champion of the market’s first annual Iron Chef Challenge in 2013, will be bringing some inspirational ideas on how to use local ingredients in your own cooking.

The Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Louis Street Parking Lot, just east of the Charlotte and Alymer Streets in downtown Peterborough.

In the last few weeks, seasonal produce coming to the market has included beans, zucchinis, raspberries, new potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, and more.

Chef Hancock will be showcasing how to use seasonal produce — along with other ingredients like local meats, cheeses, and honey — in your own cooking. Samples will be provided to market-goers between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., while supplies last.

All products at the market are Kawarthas’ own and locally grown. Market-goers can be sure they are buying direct from local farmers, growers, bakers, and more.
