Strong winds across the Kawarthas region on Friday

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for strong winds across the greater Kawarthas region on Friday (June 17).

The special weather statement is in effect for Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Haliburton, and Hasting counties.

Strong winds, with gusts up to 70 km/h, will begin near noon and end late Friday evening.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events.

Isolated power outages possible.
