Nature: Kawartha Conservation presents When the Forest Fell: Stories from Point Loop beginning at 9:00 am at Ken Reid Conservation Area (277 Kenrei Road, Lindsay, K9V 4R2). Experience the lasting impacts of the 2025 ice storm during this hour-long guided hike as conservation areas technicians Freddie Caveen and Jackson Boyes take participants along Point Loop, a beloved trail completely lost following the devastating storm event. Throughout the hike, they will share firsthand stories about the incredible damage caused by the storm, the challenges faced by the conservation lands team during cleanup efforts, and the extensive work required to safely reopen the trail for public use. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the power of extreme weather events, the resilience of natural spaces, and the dedication of staff working behind the scenes to restore and maintain conservation areas. Cost: $10 plus tax in advance. For more information and to register, visit https://events.kawarthaconservation.com/default/Detail/2026-07-16-0900-When-the-Forest-Fell-Stories-from-Point-Loop.
