The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is celebrating the Kawartha ATV Association (KATVA) for its milestone donation of more than $100,000 over the past decade in support of patient care needs at the Lindsay hospital.

Most recently, KATVA raised $15,579.44 through its annual poker run on June 6, which saw 218 adult registrants from as far away as Ottawa and London, 11 youth participants, 50 volunteers, and more than 50 community businesses and organizations that donated items for a silent auction, with proceeds boosted thanks to an unexpected anonymous donation.

This year’s donation brings the total amount KATVA has raised for the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation over the past 10 years of poker runs to $100,008.44 — an achievement that means KATVA will receive founder level recognition with a plaque on the 1902 Society Wall in the hospital’s main lobby.

“This is something every member of the KATVA family should be proud of,” said Rhonda White of KATVA in a media release. “Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community, supporting projects that benefit everyone.”

Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation CEO Erin Coons thanked “the riders, volunteers, sponsors, and landowners involved in making KATVA’s poker runs such an incredible success.”

“In ten years, you have impacted local patient care with support for the Emergency Department expansion and creation of a Mental Health Emergency Services Unit, as well as funding needs in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, the OR, and the Diagnostic Imaging Department,” Coons added.
