When it comes to the retail fashion business and her own personal life, Tia Star Pivirotto follows her heart as much as her head.
After just two and a half years of launching her on-line clothing store, TiaStar.com, the bright, passionate and outgoing Tia is expanding into a physical retail space in downtown Peterborough.
“I am so excited about this next chapter of the business and my life,” says the 31-year-old entrepreneur. “Creating, and owning TiaStar.com has been a journey for me in so many ways, and with this next phase of development I feel as if all of the pieces are falling into place.
While most people start out with a physical location, Tia has developed her fashion cred totally on-line. “I have never done things in a normal fashion,” she laughs. “I’m one of those people who really believes in being positive, working hard and having faith things will work out the way they are supposed to.”
Things couldn’t be more true for the Lindsay native who is famous for carrying a wide selection of earthy, one-of-a-kind fashions – from blouses to pants and blazers. Distinctly feminine, Tia’s fashion sense spans a large selection of designs, including Canadian-made, for women between the ages of 25-45.
“I support local designers as much as I can,” she says. “The new store will feature a variety of hand-crafted jewellery made by local artisans including myself.”
Formerly the home of Jayne Markus Studio, Tia’s retail business is located at 188 Hunter Street – right above Spa on Hunter. What can people expect to find in addition to clothing and jewellery?
“I’ll be carrying fresh home décor items including soy and beeswax candles,” she says. “I’m really drawn to earthy, organic and natural things and my store will be a reflection of the things I love.”
Tia is hoping to be open at her new location by the end of June. In addition to visiting her on Hunter Street, you can still purchase clothing on line at TiaStar.com.
