Three men dead after collision between car and four motorcycles on Highway 7 west of Omemee

18-year-old driver of car and 72-year-old motorcyclist pronounced dead at scene, with 65-year-old motorcyclist pronounced dead at hospital

Three men are dead following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 7 west of Omemee early Saturday evening (June 6).

At around 6 p.m., City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 7 and Heights Road following reports of a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and four motorcycles.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old Peterborough man, and one of the motorcyclists, a 72-year-old Dunchurch man, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Another one of the motorcyclists, a 65-year-old Barrie man, was airlifted with serious injuries to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead.

A third motorcyclist, a 30-year-old Sudbury man, was initially transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with serious injuries and later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre. A fourth motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Sudbury man, was treated and released at the scene.

Highway 7 was closed between Heights Road and Lilac Road for around seven hours while police investigated, documented, and cleared the scene.

The police investigation into the fatal collision is continuing.
