December is a month full of family and feasts, but it’s also full of great live music. Some events are themed around the holiday season, while others are just simply a chance to get out and dance the night away. There’s an impressive amount of live music happening this month.

As the holiday season approaches, regional galleries are highlighting the many, many artists our area has to boast about by presenting group shows with a mix of offerings for sale. Extended hours at many spaces throughout December offer area art lovers extra chances to “buy local” this season and choose works by regional artists for gifting to friends and family, near or far.

Peterborough health unit launches fundraising campaign for Myrtle’s Kitchen

The plans for Myrtle's Kitchen, a public health kitchen to be built on the second floor of the Peterborough County-City Health Unit's new location in downtown Peterborough. The space is named in honour of the late Myrtle Smith, after the Smith family of AON Inc. made a generous donation. The health unit is seeking to raise $73,000 from the community to help build the kitchen.

On Thursday, November 26th, the Peterborough County-City Health Unit launched a fundraising campaign for a public health kitchen at its new location at 185 King Street in downtown Peterborough. “Myrtle’s Kitchen” is named after the matriarch of the Smith family of AON Inc. and recognizes the family’s generous gift to the kitchen.

This weekend, the students of Lakefield College School brings a story filled with music, romance, fame, murder, sadism, and botany to the stage as they present the cult musical Little Shop of Horrors.

Peterborough Symphony Orchestra welcomes audiences Home for the Holidays

The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra presents Home for the Holidays at Showplace in Peterborough on December 5. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., following the Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade.
