Art in the Street – July 2015

At the height of her impressionism, Janette O'Neil paints beautifully using bold blocks of colour in well-integrated fields like these blues, reds, and greens. Her work is on display in the Art & Healing Gallery and Peterborough Regional Health Centre until July 15.

A charming technologist named Birgitta and a desultory visit to see the artwork of Janette O’Neil were definitely the highlights of my recent visit to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC).

Protect yourself and your family from Lyme disease

Ticks settle on tall grasses and bushes and attach themselves to passing people or animals. When hiking, wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts and tuck your pants into your socks, especially when walking in long grass.

In the wake of Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne’s disclosure of her struggle with Lyme disease, a local health unit is encouraging local residents to take precautions against blacklegged ticks that can spread Lyme disease.

Living it up at Del Crary Park with Hotel California

Family encounters adorable fawn while helping an injured gosling

The Lindsay family came across this fawn while they were trying to save a gosling with a broken leg (photo by Chris Lindsay)

Brian Lindsay sent us this wonderful picture of an adorable fawn, taken by his son Chris recently near Burnt River in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Brian’s wife and kids were trying to save a gosling with a broken leg when they came across the fawn hiding under a tree.

The fawn didn’t try to run away and its mother was nowhere in sight. Although the Lindsays were concerned that the fawn might be injured or sick, they already had an injured young goose to help. So Chris snapped a photo and they went on their way.
