We love to recreate, reconnect with nature and spend time with family around fresh water. There is something ancient in our blood that draws us to the shorelines of rivers and lakes. Simply put, water sustains us.
The vast majority of waterfront property owners will tell you that it was the access to water that that brought them there in the first place and that protecting water quality is their main concern. This was certainly the case for 93% of Kasshabog Lake property owners who were surveyed about what they valued about living on the lake as part of the Love Your Lake Program.

Art in the Street – October 2014
Beyond walls: Art Gallery of Peterborough and the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour
While work continues on repairing one of its walls, the Art Gallery of Peterborough (AGP) remains open with the Selections Exhibition from this past weekend’s 30th Annual Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour on display until October 19th.
Uneasy Quietness – A review of The Curious Savage
There’s a feeling of uneasy quietness that surrounds the Peterborough Theatre Guild’s production of John Patrick’s The Curious Savage. Directed by Glen Walker, the drama — which looks at the juxtaposition of morality and kindness between mental patients and pillars of society — has a sleepy quality that numbs the audience into a sort of claustrophobic state.
Campaign Equality
This week, famous actor Emma Watson gave an emotional speech before the United Nations in order to introduce a new campaign called “HeForShe“. This campaign is aimed towards getting men involved in stopping violence against women. She rightfully pointed out that gender equality is not just a women’s issue, but everyone’s. I agree wholeheartedly with Ms Watson on this subject, but I think the issue goes deeper than most give credit.
Singing for Showplace
Before every performance, singers Brian Roman and Christopher Dallo walk into the audience to shake hands and thank people for coming to their show.
“It doesn’t matter where we are or who we are performing for,” Brian says. “Every show is an intimate expression of what we both love to do.”

Parkhill on Hunter closes after 25 years in business
After 25 years in business, Parkhill on Hunter closed its doors on Monday, September 29th.
The current owner, Emma Cox, began working at Parkhill as a server over 12 years ago and then purchased the business in 2010. After operating the restaurant for the past four years, Cox says she will be transitioning her focus, skill and experience to a new catering and event planning business, called EC Catering.
