When one thinks of George Street, chances are the first imagery that comes to mind focuses on the many cars, trucks, and buses that use the street to maneuver through our city’s downtown core each day. That scene is going to change dramatically this Saturday, as George Street becomes an “open street” for Peterborough Pulse.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., people are invited to walk, bike, skate or stroll the Pulse route that stretches from City Hall all the way to the Saturday Farmer’s Market.
This is the final weekend that the Art Gallery of Peterborough will be located at its temporary home at 420 George Street North in downtown Peterborough.
The gallery will then close to the public from Monday, July 20th to Friday, August 7th, to prepare for the reopening at its permanent location at 250 Crescent Street.
On Wednesday, July 15th, Steve Hancock of St. Veronus Cafe and Tap Room will be the guest chef at the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market.
Hancock, who was the champion of the market’s first annual Iron Chef Challenge in 2013, will be bringing some inspirational ideas on how to use local ingredients in your own cooking.
